Senior decision-makers from the Moroccan solar sector will participate in a Reverse Trade Mission (RTM) to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Denver, June 8 – 18, 2014. The delegates will represent a variety of organizations including: Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN), Moroccan National Agency for the Development of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ADEREE), Moroccan National Company for Transportation and Logistics (SNTL), Office de l’Electricite et de l’Eau Potable (ONEE) and the Moroccan Society for Energy Investments (SIE).

Mr. Samir Rachidi

Mr. Samir Rachidi

MASEN (Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy)

Samir Rachidi is an R&D project coordinator at MASEN. Dr. Rachidi has much experience in the research and industry sector having most recently served as an R&D Engineer in a start-up in Sophia-Antipolis, France. He is interested in developing international R&D project partnerships and collaborations in the area of solar applications and demonstrators. Dr. Rachidi achieved in 2011 a PhD in the field of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells, carried out in collaboration between the CEA of Grenoble and the CNRS institute of “PPrime” in Poitiers, both in France. He holds a double degree – Masters of Science & Engineering – in Chemical Environmental and Energy Engineering, obtained from Saint-Etienne School of Mines in 2008.

 

Mr. Abderrahim Jamrani

Mr. Abderrahim Jamrani

MASEN (Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy)

Mr. Abderrahim Jamrani is responsible for the technical aspects concerning procurement of solar power plants for MASEN. In this role he produced the solar power projects feasibility studies (PV and CSP) and collaborated on the technical strategy of the Moroccan Solar Plan. Prior to MASEN, Mr. Jamrani was the Energy Director for CMH Group, where he worked on the study of a new industrial unit with the objective of producing CSP power plant components. He has also served as Procurement Director for the National Electric Utility and Head of Agadir Electricity Distribution with over 500,000 customers. Mr. Jamrani was also a member of the team in charge of the PERG master plan for Rural Electrification, including assessing rural electrification needs and creating a financial scheme to finance the Morocco rural area. Mr. Jamrani has a degree in Engineer from ENSIEG in Grenoble, France and an MBA from ENPC – EHTP.

 

Ms. Basma Bentaher

Ms. Basma Bentaher is a Project Structuring Manager within the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (“MASEN”). She has been working for MASEN for two years on the overall structuring of the NOOR Ouarzazate project which will include a PV plant. She is also working on other PV plants to be developed later at future sites. Ms. Bentaher is involved in the financial and institutional structuring of projects, managing the whole tender process, and negotiating with the selected bidders.

 

Prior to joining MASEN, she worked for over 5 years in investment banking as a project manager reporting to the CEO of a private holding company.

 

Dr. Abdelhaquim El Moussaoui

ONEE (National Office of Water and Electricity)

Dr. Abdelhaquim El Moussaoui is the Strategic Project Manager at ONEE, where he is responsible for the development and monitoring of solar production projects. Dr. El Moussaoui is involved in the development and monitoring of the Moroccan Solar Plan, managing the implementation through MASEN. He also manages research and development of technological intelligence in the solar energy sector. Dr. El Moussaoui attained his PhD in Photovoltaic Solar Energy at Polytechnic University of Madrid in Spain, and also holds an MBA.

 

Mr. Mohamed El Haouari

Mr. Mohamed El Haouari

ADEREE (National Agency for the Development of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency)

Mr. Mohamed El Haouari is an Industrial Process Engineer and currently the Director of the Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE) Department of ADEREE. Mr. El Haouari possesses significant experience in EE and RE as a project manager or key expert in more than a hundred national RE and EE projects, programs and pilot projects. During Mr. El Haouari’s career in ADEREE, he has undertaken many markets, technical and economic studies in relation to RE systems in Morocco. Mr. El Haouari was previously the head of the Quality and Technology Division and Head of the Training and University Cooperation Division. Mr. El Haouari is responsible for several research papers of doctorate and end-cycle engineering studies in the domain of RE and EE. Mr. El Haouari has drafted a number of policy documents including action plans, master plans for high priority RE projects and other initiatives. He has participated in several training sessions around Europe and provides training on RE with emphasis on solar photovoltaic and solar thermal systems. Mr. El Haouari is a Master Trainer on solar thermal and PV.

 

Dr. Rachid El Mrabet

Mr. Rachid El Mrabet

OCP (National Moroccan Phosphates Company)

Dr. Rachid El Mrabet is currently the Energy Manager of the Utilities Division at OCP. Prior to his current position, Dr. El Mrabet was the unit head of the R&D at OCP for the Environment, Water and Energy. He was also the project manager for Radiological and Chemical Impact Studies for the National Center of Energy, Sciences and Nuclear Techniques. Dr. El Mrabet has accomplished many things throughout his career including writing 12 publications, managing over 20 energy program projects, and supervising post-grad and doctoral students. Dr. El Mrabet is currently the chairman of the organizing committee of Scientific Meetings and Workshops, where he is a scientific and editorial committee member. Dr. El Mrabet received his PhD and 3rd cycle Doctorate in Nuclear Physics at Seville University in Spain. Dr. El Mrabet also received a university degree in physics at University Moulay Ismail in Morocco.

 

Mr. Hamid Fadile

Mr. Hamid Fadile
Energy Projects Leader, OCP Utilities
OCP (National Moroccan Phosphates Company)

Mr. Hamid Fadile is the OCP Utilities Project Manager of Renewable Energy, at OCP. He is responsible for developing renewable energy projects to meet OCP needs in energy, in relation to future expansion plans. Mr. Fadile previously worked as a Project Manager for Solar Systems in Europe and spent five years working with Photovoltaic Systems in Italy. As project manager, he was responsible for the development of several PV Land Stations for a global power peak of more than 50 MW. Mr. Fadile was also responsible for the qualification and management of photovoltaic products and multiple international suppliers. Mr. Fadile is a Master in Project Management and holds a Second Level Masters Degree in the Semiconductor Industry. Mr. Fadile also has a degree in Electronic Engineering.

 

Ms. Myriam Brahimi

Ms. Myriam Brahimi is currently the Project Manager of Financial Engineering at SIE. Ms. Brahimi works on implementing SIE’s investment policy and ensuring its coordination within the company. Previoulsy, Ms. Brahimi worked as a Senior Corporate Finance Analyst at Morocco’s Capital Market Authority. She has also worked as a Financial Analyst and a Junior Auditor Assistant. Ms. Brahimi earned her Executive MBA Candidate at the ENPC School of International Management in Paris. She also earned a degree in Finance and Accounting from Institut Supérieur de Commerce et d’Administration des Entreprises in Morocco and her Bachelors in Science at Lycée Descartes.

 

Mr. Hamid Jebbar

SNTL (National Company for Transportation and Logistics)

Mr. Hamid Jebbar is currently the Subsidiary Director, SNTL IMMO. Since March 2011, Mr. Jebbar has been a member of the Executive Committee in charge of Business Development and Real Estate at SNTL IMMO. In this role, Mr. Jebbar has overseen the development of a business plan of the real estate business, including the preparation of the master plan for the network of 200,000 m2 logistics centers. Mr. Jebbar is also responsible for the prospecting of land acquisitions corresponding to the master plan, as well as being in charge of the photovoltaic project on the rooftop of the logistics centers. Mr. Jebbar previously held the position of Logistic Director at SNTL and Supply Chain Director at MADEC, where he was a member of senior management, in charge of implementing a supply chain strategy in line with maximizing customer service level, reducing logistics’ cost and developing synergy between four different activities. Mr. Jebbar received his Engineering degree in 2002 and his MBA in 2013.

 

Mr. Ahmed Squalli

Mr. Squalli is the President of AMISOLE, an association that includes all the professionals/companies of the solar and wind field in Morocco.
Mr. Squalli is also the Vice President of FENELEC (National Federation of the Electrical, Electronic and Renewable Energy companies) and the Vice President of the SOLAR CLUSTER. He also runs his own company, called NRJ International, acting as an integrator/provider of equipment solution for two activities: photovoltaic systems + transmission and distribution systems for power grid. Mr. Squalli has a PhD in Automation and Signal Processing and an Electrical Engineering degree.

 

Mr. Ali Guedira

Mr. Ali Guedira became Deputy General Manager of MAScIR in June 2012. Since then, he has designed a management system for MAScIR based on project management and monitoring of R&D performance indicators. Before joining MAScIR, Mr. Guedira was a consultant at Accenture in Paris and then a Design & Development Engineer at Agence Speciale Tanger Mediterranee. He has also served as Counsler of the Minister of Trade, Industry and New Technologies in Morocco. Mr. Guedira has a Strategy, Marketing and Finance Engineer degree from Ecole Centrale de Paris.

 

Mr. Chemsedine Sidi Baba

Mr. Chemsedine Sidi-Baba is the founder of SUNATAR ENERGIES and is the President of the Morocco-Oman Business Commission of CGEM (General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco). Mr. Chemsedine Sidi-Baba was the President of Apebi’s International Relations Commission (IT Federation of Morocco) and held this position from 1999 to 2006. He was CEO and co-founder of CADTECH Group and Urbasoft in the IT sector and has previously acted as a consultant for IMEG (an Engineering Consulting Firm) before holding the position of CEO at IHS Engineering, which he also co-founded in 1990. Mr. Chemsedine Sidi-Baba is an electrical engineer that graduated from the George Washington University with a BSc. (with distinction) and a ME from the University of Cornell.

 

Ms. Thanae Bennani

Thanae Bennani is the Senior Commercial Specialist for CS Morocco since June 2005. Her responsibilities include the development of market entry, expansion and advocacy strategies for U.S. companies, as well as development of extensive market intelligence to provide professional level counseling on major project opportunities, trade barriers, commercial legislations and business practices in light of the U.S. Morocco Free Trade Agreement.

 

Prior to joining the U.S. Commercial Service in 2000, Ms. Bennani was a financial analyst at BMCE CAPITAL, a brokerage branch of BMCE Bank. She also worked as a Cash Manager for Holcim, a Swiss cement company with production units in Morocco.

 

Thanks to a Fulbright scholarship, Thanae Bennani completed a Masters of Science degree in Finance at George Washington University. She received a BA in Management Science from The international Institute for Higher Education, in Rabat.
